Hello Team Captains:   A few things to let you know about:   PLEASE forward this e-mail to all of the members of your team, and any other interested parties. We need to Spread The Word about our PAINT GUELPH PINK WEEK!  Starting next week, you will be getting fundraising tips from me, and I hope you will set up a e-mail blast list of the members of your team, and forward them on.  We want to make this the most successful run/walk so far & we need your help!   We have lots going on July20-25 for Paint Guelph Pink Week!  See attached. Be sure to read the second page for the activities, and the second flyer for an opportunity of a lifetime.  If you have a dog, or a cat, or a rabbit (we aren’t fussy) we encourage you to being them out to our SPECIAL EVENT where they can STRUT THEIR STUFF…..in PINK! We hope to cause accidents on the Hanlon Pkwy. (well, not really)..but we hope to turn heads while we fill the leash free park with pink pups!  Hope you will join us. .  We know all you dog owners (like me) are all a little crazy and will do anything for our loyal companions.     We have also received Team Captain buttons & lots of promotional supplies for your team to assist you with your fundraising. If you want buttons or supplies, please e-mail Albert at amarsolais@cbcfrun.org and he will arrange for you to get them.   One last thing……

We are currently seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of tasks to contribute to the success of this year’s CIBC Run for the Cure. We are looking for volunteers to assist with site setup and takedown, route marshalling, foot tent and other essential components of the event. If you or someone you know would like to volunteer, please contact Margaret, Nichole or Sonam at Vol_Guelph@cbcfrun.org for more information, or to register as a volunteer at our volunteer website: http://web.volunteer2.com/public/organization/listjobs.aspx?OrganizationGUID=6e37a33a-1586-4b41-a007-17765f0274d2&AppForm=1

Come out, come out, wherever you are……………..when was the last time someone told you they missed you, that you were exceptional, wonderful, and that you make a difference?  Well, I’m here to tell you all that. I know you are one of those “Special” people we meet in our lives. And I am special too!  We are special because we care about breast cancer.  It is because of you, and many others…… that so many people are surviving breast cancer.  It is because of the money your team  raises, that we are losing fewer loved ones.  If you have not signed up for Run For The Cure yet, you are missing out on a special opportunity!  Join us in unity….to put smiles on peoples faces, put money into research  and  walk/run in solidarity.

Pssssssssssss If you’ve already signed up…………………pass the word along!

To all past, present & future Team Captains:

A couple of days ago I went for a run on of the side roads near my home.  The last couple of times I ran on this road, I passed a women and her 2 children. She is usually walking with the dog, and her kiddies are on bikes.  She always smiles and says “hi”. I have often wondered if she had cancer, as it looks like she is bald, under the ball cap she always wears.

The other night, I was taking a water break when I caught up to her.  She said hi and asked me how long I’ve been running, and if I was training for anything. I told her that I run for pleasure, but that I am involved in the Run For The Cure.

She looked at me for a few seconds, then removed her ball cap & said that this was her 2nd bout with breast cancer. Her 1st bout was shortly after her first daughter was born.  She was sure she had beat it, until a few months ago.  She talked about the isolation she felt, living in the country and how so many of her friends don’t know how to act around her, so they tend to avoid her.   She said she recently joined a support group & that seemed to be helping her.

She apologized for being weepy (and trust me, I was getting weepy by then as well) and thanked me for being involved in the run.  I left her and  “RAN MY HEART OUT”

Breast Cancer needs to be beaten, and we a need to band together to raise as much money as we can.

If you have not signed up for the run yet, PLEASE join me and sign up soon.  The earlier you sign up the more time you have to raise funds.
